- Common buyer requirements may include migration testing, heavy-metal/chemical testing, microbiological controls where relevant, PFAS testing/declaration for PFAS-free claims, and packaging performance tests.
- Common management/certification frameworks may include ISO 9001, ISO 22000/BRCGS Packaging or equivalent, FSC/PEFC only where certified fibre is actually used, and compostability standards such as EN 13432/ASTM D6400 only where the finished product has been tested and certified.
- Claims such as compostable, biodegradable, PFAS-free, recyclable or food-safe should be made only with evidence applicable to the exact product and destination.
